I don't understand why someone would pick a fight over texts when they could fight in real life. Having an honest-to-goodness argument face-to-face trumps typing on your little bitty cell phone any day of the week. The one advantage of fighting over text is that you have more time to think of an articulate, clever response, but IMHO, that defeats the purpose of arguing. Arguing should happen in a fit of passion; it's not equivalent to a Presidential debate with pre-written and highly thought-out answers. It's a highly superior form of communication. If you can't think of your arguments in a fit of rage the second the drivel exits from your opponent's mouth, you don't deserve to call yourself argumentative. Unfortunately, we cannot broadcast audio recordings of real arguments between parents and their children because that would be just a tad unethical, so these parenting texts are the second-best thing.
