Pretty much everyone who has ever rented has a horror story about a landlord, and far fewer have good things to say about the people whose properties they have paid to live in. Many would argue that a good landlord is an oxymoron, but that doesn't stop some trying to do right by their tenants where possible.
However, even that can become a controversial topic as recently proven by one heated discussion provoked by the daughter of a landlady. She claimed that her mom had been setting aside a portion of the rent paid by her tenants to put toward the education of their kids in the future, and not everybody thought this was such a nice move. While it might beat simply paying somebody else's mortgage, this may well be a decision that they would rather have made themselves instead of having a chunk of their money managed on their behalf.
