When it comes to the typical meme, most of them have one main goal: to spread their message as widely as possible with as much of an impact as they can muster (unless they are aimed at a very niche audience). Memes that succeed in the long run tend to rise quickly, make the most of their fleeting moment in the spotlight, and then fade away while occasionally resurfacing on the periphery of the internet for years to come. This cycle is a well-established part of internet culture that meme consumers have come to accept as it's simply how things have always unfolded. If you look at it philosophically, every new meme we encounter becomes a small event and we never know how long it might last. While we may not remember every meme we come across, we are likely to share many that bring us joy and ultimately, that is what they are there for.
