Everybody needs a good story. Like Joan Didion said, "We tell ourselves stories in order to live." We need tales of heroes overcoming all odds, ordinary people achieving extraordinary things, and good conquering evil, or else we may never know that we can do the same. Star Wars is a great example of that. The story is so baked into our bones, and similar old patterns and structres (e.g. The Hero's Journey) that it becomes part of our DNA as a culture. We believe we can take on the forces of evil if we have good on our side. We know we all have a "force" within us that we can harvest when we need to. We all… want to play with lightsabers because it looks really fun.
This is why we love and need Star Wars. It teaches us how to be human. Memes also do that. Probably. So scroll on.
