Even though I rely on Google Reviews over the course of my daily life, I have only ever left one or two reviews myself. This is one of nature's perfect imbalances that somehow works out in our favor. There will always be people willing to leave reviews, enough for the rest of us to rely on their labor without contributing ourselves. Maybe I'm a parasite, or maybe I'm just an audience member.
But this begs the question, are reviews skewed by the type of person who is likely to leave a review? Are these people more choosy, more disagreeable, or more easily impressed than the rest of the population? Can we rely on their impartial judgment? Or is it usually just a flock of Karens bending the tide of opinion to their will? We may never know. What we do know is that these reviews, while they may not be helpful, sure do make us laugh.
