Christmas in the 80s was a whole vibe. Flamboyant colors, bright lights, and festivities already dotted the entire decade, but when you threw Christmas spirit in the mix, well, Gen X thrived. Enjoying the most nostalgic holiday specials like the Muppets Christmas or (if your parents weren't around), National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Gen Xers were really thriving back then. The toys were fun, the groceries were cheap, and Granny made the best mashed potatoes. You could play outside in the snow and never get cold and the white Christmas morning of your dreams was always a reality.
For some of us, our holiday nostalgia never left and each year as we dust off the old Christmas ornaments and the holiday decor, we can still remember the smell of pine needles, yellow books, plastic-covered furniture, and a roaring birch fire in the chimney. And as our whole family gathered around for a Christmas carol or two, life seemed like it'd never get better than this.
